about

Original Soundtrack to the short film "Mercury In Tuna" by Kristen Lauth Shaeffer

Mercury In Tuna is a short narrative film about these feelings. It is composed of my experiences and the experiences of many other women in my life. The story is about taking control of our fears by becoming what we are afraid of, and in a humorous way, it requires us to rethink the way we interact with the world.

Director's Statement:
I sometimes find it difficult to walk the line between being afraid and being reckless. I hear news reports and warnings from my family and receive countless emails regarding all of the dangers that are out there, just waiting for me. While I am quite capable of picturing the worst, I also recognize the fear-mongering and it makes me angry. I'm not sure if I should triple-check the chain on my door or if I should pick up a stranger who needs a ride down the street. In truth, I've done both (please don't tell my dad) and it all still feels out of my control.

about

Whimsey & Dabbler Portland, Oregon

When J.C. Whimsey was born, his parents were shocked to see he had a tv where there should have been a head. A few blocks a way, I.M. Dabbler was born with a radio-head. One day, they met on a playground. W was trying to find a black box to pick up free stations; D was looking for some solid frequencies. Dabbler would pick up frequencies while Whimsey recorded the sounds & visuals around them. ... more
